Our church started in 1977 with a primary goal of reaching Aggies, helping them to know Jesus and become equipped as disciples, so that when they graduate they are prepared to go and serve the Lord wherever he takes them. That’s a key part of how we aim to help fulfill the Great Commission.
The main component of our student ministry is the Homegroups. Each group is led by a student or recent A&M grad. They meet once per week in someone’s home, but they do a LOT more than that together. They often meet to pray, have meals together, go on trips, etc.
Our City Homegroups are the heart of our ministry to non-students. We have eight of them right now, and the people in each one tend to be mostly in the same stage of family life, particularly with respect to the age of their children. Some have families with mostly preschool age kids, some with elementary school age, others with older children, and still others with ‘empty nesters’ or couples approaching that stage. Each group meets weekly in a member’s home for Bible discussion, prayer, worship and fellowship.
